Mr. Stein has over 35 years of professional experience in the power, energy, environmental engineering, and heavy construction industries. Mr. Stein has been closely involved with the successful development of new business initiatives in the renewable energy, clean technology, hazardous waste, civil works, watershed restoration and homeland defense industries.
Mr. Stein started his career as a field engineer in the heavy construction industry with American Bridge involved with high-rise building and industrial greenfield construction.
He became a Project/Proposal Manager in environmental engineering and hazardous waste industries with IT Corporation (later The Shaw Corporation). He successfully completed large remediation projects involving chemical decontamination of buildings and equipment, removal and/or isolation of wastes, utilization of subsurface containment structures and multimedia caps, water diversion structures and treatment and control of wastewater.
Mr. Stein managed complex, multi-faceted energy, environmental and construction projects valued at over $50 Million with professional and field staffs of over 50 people. He successfully completed several large remediation projects involving chemical decontamination of buildings and equipment, removal and/or isolation of wastes, utilization of subsurface containment structures and multimedia caps, water diversion structures such as sheet pile walls and portadams and treatment and control of wastewater. Decontamination activities included the use of a unique, ultra-high-pressure water technology to provide better cleaning efficiency with lower waste generation.
With an increasing level of responsibility, he managed the company’s proposal centers with a staff of over 30 proposal managers. He led proposals, bids, estimating, and statements of qualification, technical presentations, skill summaries and project histories. In this role he managed over 100 government and commercial proposal efforts valued at up to $500 Million that led to winning a backlog in excess of $1Billion. Mr. Stein’s responsibilities also included leading a team of toxicologists, geologists, chemists, industrial hygienists, and specialized subcontractors and managing field personnel to complete remediation projects. He was a member of a team researching and developing work in emerging businesses including civil works, watershed restoration, and homeland defense.
He is currently a Senior Technical Consultant at IEP within the emerging energy and clean technology space representing the cutting edge of the new economy. His has supported business opportunities involving waste-to-energy, biofuels, and solar and green chemistry business opportunities.
Mr. Stein received his BA in Environmental Studies from the University of Pennsylvania and a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.
